The twin-scroll, low-inertia turbocharger, and electronic actuated wastegate enhance the engine's torque response, providing drivers with increased performance from the highways to the off-road trails. Aiding in the engine's performance is Jeep's Active Drive 4x4 system. Active Drive uses a network of sensors, a disconnecting rear axle, and a power transfer unit to shift into and out of four-wheel drive automatically without the need for driver intervention. The 4x4 system can be controlled by the driver using the Selec-Terrain traction management system with Auto, Snow, Sport, and Sand/Mud modes. Meanwhile, the Compass Trailhawk comes with Active Drive Low 4x4, which uses a two-speed transfer case to provide a 4-Low mode for better low-speed off-roading control.
