OPTIMIZE EVERY RIDE
Electric Mode
The default mode, Hybrid, combines torque from both the 2.0L turbocharged engine and the electric motors. This combination provides maximum horsepower, instant torque and the best acceleration. Electric power is consumed first.
E-Save Mode
eSave Mode prioritizes the 2.0L engine. This saves the battery charge for later use. When power demand is low, the engine shuts off. It can also be reconfigured to increase the battery charge as well.
PLUG INTO ADVENTURE

What Are the Trim Levels and Features of the 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe?
The Wrangler 4xe comes in the Wrangler's Unlimited (four-door) body style. Additionally, it comes standard with the removable top and doors and fold-down windshield for the open-air freedom that makes the Wrangler so unique and popular. For the first time, the Wrangler 4xe lineup is led off by the Willys trim in the 2023 model year. This military-inspired trim features a locking rear differential, LED lighting, rock rails, 32-inch mud-terrain tires, and FOX shock absorbers. The Willys is easily distinguishable from the lineup by the Willys decal on the side of the hood in bold military-style lettering. Meanwhile, the Sahara follows with push-button start, an 8.4-inch touchscreen, navigation, proximity keyless entry, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and 20-inch alloy wheels. The Rubicon takes you to the most rugged terrain imaginable with Rock-Trac 4x4, FOX shock absorbers, a disconnecting front sway bar, functional hood vents, high-clearance fender flares, and 33-inch all-terrain tires. Topping off the 2023 Wrangler 4xe lineup is the High Altitude. This features a body-color hard top, body-color fender flares, unique 20-inch alloy wheels, Nappa leather-trimmed upholstery, body-color side mirrors with integrated turn signals, blindspot monitoring, and rear parking sensors.
What Powers the 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe?
The Jeep Wrangler 4xe features a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle powertrain consisting of an internal combustion engine, two electric motors, and a rechargeable battery pack. The Wrangler 4xe uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine, an engine-mounted high-voltage motor generator, a transmission-mounted high-voltage electric motor, and a 400-volt lithium-ion battery pack. The engine-mounted electric motor replaces the traditional alternator providing seamless engine stop-start operation and generating energy for the battery pack. Meanwhile, the transmission-mounted electric motor replaces the torque converter for powerful electric drivability. The 4xe system gives the Wrangler 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. The transmission-mounted electric motor allows this torque to be delivered to the wheels without any delay, as electric power doesn't require the build-up of engine RPMs. Additionally, the Wrangler 4xe achieves the equivalent of 49 MPG. Many drivers looking into any kind of electric vehicle are concerned about the range. Rest assured that the Wrangler 4xe gets an impressive 370-mile range of driving on a full tank and full charge, as well as 21 miles of pure electric driving on a full charge.
Does the Jeep Wrangler 4xe Still Use 4x4?
The electric power doesn't make the Wrangler 4xe any less of a Jeep Wrangler. In fact, it makes it more so. The name 4xe stands for 'four-by-electric' because the Wrangler 4xe combines Jeep's legendary 4x4 with electric power. Standard for most Wrangler 4xe models is Selec-Trac 4x4. This is a full-time system that constantly monitors road conditions and reacts by sending torque to the axle with the most traction. Under ideal conditions, the Wrangler 4xe maximizes fuel efficiency by operating in two-wheel drive. When a loss of traction is detected, the Selec-Trac system will automatically engage the rear wheels by shifting into 4-High or 4-Low, depending on the vehicle's speed, without any driver input. Notice that we said Selec-Trac is standard for 'most' Wrangler 4xe models. This is because the standard Wrangler Rubicon, the Wrangler Rubicon 4xe comes with Rock-Trac 4x4. The legendary Rock-Trac 4x4 system provides a 4:1 low-range gear ratio. This means that every four rotations of the transmission output shaft will turn each axle once while the 4x4 system is in 4-Low. This results in higher torque being sent to the wheels at low speed for superior performance while crawling over rugged terrain. The locking differentials of the Wrangler Rubicon 4xe aid in this capability by moving all four wheels at the same time at the push of a button to carry momentum while remaining in complete control.
