The HEMI engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission that drivers can control with paddle shifters mounted to the steering wheel. Jeep created the Hydro Guide air intake system for the Wrangler Rubicon 392. Hydro Guide allows the Wrangler Rubicon 392 to take on up to nearly 33 inches of water while still providing cold air to the engine by filtering out up to 15 gallons of water per minute. Even if the hood scoop is fully obstructed, secondary intakes continue to provide air to the engine. Additionally, the Wrangler Rubicon 392 comes with dual-mode exhaust. Normal mode will send the exhaust through the entire muffler, while Performance mode emits that distinctive HEMI rumble by allowing for straight exhaust flow. The engine is mated to Jeep's Selec-Trac 4x4 system with an active full-time transfer case.

The Wrangler Rubicon 392 also comes with a 2-inch factory lift with specially-tuned gas-charged high-pressure monotube shock absorbers for maximum ride comfort and handling. The electronically disconnecting front sway bar allows drivers to unlink the front sway bar at the push of a button, allowing the front wheels to compress and drop further to maintain traction on even the most rugged terrain. The Off-Road Plus button maximizes off-road capability with Sand and Rock modes. Depending on the selected mode, this button makes alterations to the traction control, transmission shift points, and throttle control to maximize performance, whether you're tearing up the wide-open sand or slowly crawling over rocky terrain. This also allows you to lock the rear axle at high speeds while running the 4x4 system in 4-High, enhancing performance. Selec-Speed takes control of the Wrangler Rubicon 392's speed while crawling in 4-Low mode. Allowing you to focus on steering while the vehicle manages the gas and brake, maintaining a set speed between 0.6 and 5 MPH.

The Wrangler Rubicon 392 is eligible for the Xtreme Recon package, which gives off-road capability a whole new meaning by adding an array of exclusive features. The Xtreme Recon package gives the Rubicon 392 a total of 12.9 inches of ground clearance, towering over the regular Wrangler. This also gives the Wrangler Rubicon 392 a water-fording depth of 33.6 inches. Additionally, the Wrangler Rubicon 392 with the Xtreme Recon package gains 35-inch all-terrain tires on 17-by-8-inch beadlock-capable wheels. These are two inches larger than the Wrangler Rubicon 392's stock wheels.
