As the popularity of electric vehicles increases, more and more are being introduced each year. RAM is joining the charge toward an all-electric future with the RAM 1500 Revolution BEV Concept. RAM's first-ever all-electric truck takes the traditional truck design and tosses it out the window, changing the way we look at electric pickup trucks. With instant torque, standard all-wheel drive, and adaptive suspension, the aggressive looks are backed up by phenomenal performance and capability both on and off the road. Here at Dick Scott Motor Mall, we want our customers to be well-informed about the brands that we sell. So, please continue reading below to learn more about the first-ever RAM 1500 Revolution BEV Concept!
Power and Capability of the RAM 1500 Revolution
With the 1500 Revolution BEV Concept, RAM has claimed that it will lead the segment with the fastest charging time, longest range, and highest towing capacity. Completely void of any gas power, the RAM 1500 Revolution is the brand's fully electric pickup truck. One electric drive module, or EDM for short, is placed at the front axle, driving the front wheels, while another EDM is at the rear axle, powering the rear wheels. Together, this provides the Revolution with standard all-wheel drive for excellent performance and capability even in inclement road conditions. Both of the EDMs used for the Revolution are smaller, which affords the interior more space. However, RAM has left extra space around the EDMs, creating space for larger EDMs for high-performance applications in the future. Speaking of performance, RAM puts to rest the common misconception that electric trucks are slow by providing significant power and instantaneous torque for exhilarating response times. To maneuver tight parking spaces and narrow off-road trails, the RAM 1500 Revolution uses four-wheel steering with up to 15 degrees of horizontal movement in the rear wheels. Additionally, a smooth ride and tight cornering is provided by the standard adaptive damping suspension. Using an 800-volt DC Fast Charger, RAM has stated that the Revolution's battery can be recharged for up to 100 miles of range in as little as ten minutes.
Interior Design of the RAM 1500 Revolution Concept
RAM set out to give their first all-electric truck a completely versatile cabin with a one-space environment. They did this by creating the RamTrack rail system on the floor. Connected to the seats and center console, the RamTrack system allows owners to configure the Revolution's interior any way they need it to. The center console is unique because it has two fold-out panels on top, giving you a hard surface on which you can do paperwork or eat lunch on a jobsite. Essentially it gives you a desk, making the Revolution a corner office on wheels. What is an office without some tech, though? The Revolution features two stacked 14-inch touchscreens. The bottom touchscreen can be removed and used as a tablet throughout the truck to control powered functions, review work documents, scan objects to fit in the bed, and much more. Behind the steering wheel, you'll notice that there is no gauge cluster. That's because it instead has an augmented reality head-up display for all the important information. As an industry first, the RAM 1500 Revolution BEV features third-row jump seats on the midgate to provide additional seating. Additionally, the midgate can be folded down to create a pass-through space leading all the way through the cabin into the front trunk, accommodating items up to 18 feet in length.
Exterior Features of the RAM 1500 Revolution
Traditionally, every pickup truck follows the same cab-and-bed design. While this design is true for the RAM 1500 Revolution, that's about the only thing traditional about it. Up front, the Revolution is the face of complete confidence with a wide and high stance and an aggressive glare with 'tuning fork' LED headlights. At the center of the grille is a modernized 'RAM' emblem illuminated with bright LED lights. Below the main grille is a lower grille that leads to a bumper that swoops under the vehicle, becoming a front skidplate, protecting the undercarriage. The bumper features two swiveling tow hooks that, when not in use, can fold flat against the front bumper. Under the hood, of course, there is no engine, so in its place, there is a frunk with a powered cover for additional cargo space. Instead of all four doors opening forward, they swing opposing each other. The doorways are completely void of a B-pillar, which traditionally separates the front and rear doors. This gives you a wide, unobstructed view of the entire cabin. The Revolution seems from the future, with power operation of the flush-mounted door handles, charge port door, side steps, frunk lid, and tailgate. The multifunction tailgate features a 50/50 split to either swing open or fold down. The tailgate can also extend with a bed extending gate for additional space in the bed.
