2020 Jeep Gladiator at Dick Scott Motor Mall

Jeep made a major splash this year with the introduction of its brand new pickup truck, the Gladiator. Jeep designers pulled inspiration from the Wrangler when designing the Gladiator, which is boldly apparent when you see the removable metal doors, the removable roof that is available as either a hard or soft top, and the fold-down windshield all the features the Wrangler is known for. The Gladiator also boasts some serious off-road props, just like its SUV friend that Wrangler. Jeep didn't stop there with the Gladiator either, they went on to make a new trim level that sports the first-ever Desert Rated badge. While the Rubicon is a rock-crawler, the new Mojave is here to throw some serious sand around and race around the desert like no one's business. We know you want to learn more about the all-new 2020 Jeep Gladiator, so keep reading down below to find out more!

What powers the Gladiator?

The Gladiator arrived on the scene with the award-winning 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine that outputs 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. In traditional Jeep fashion, you can either pair the engine with the standard 6-speed manual transmission, or you can opt for the 8-speed automatic transmission. If you really wanted to see a diesel engine under the hood of this pickup truck, you won't be disappointed. Jeep is releasing the Gladiator with a 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 engine later in the year 2020. This diesel-powered engine is rated to make 260 horsepower and an incredible 442 lb-ft of torque. A specially designed 8-speed automatic transmission comes paired with this engine that can handle all that extra torque.

Can you tell me about the 4x4 systems?

The Gladiator is also similar to the Wrangler in the fact that Jeep offers several different 4x4 systems for the vehicle. The Sport and Overland models come standard with the Command-Trac 4x4 system that uses a two-speed transfer case and has a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio. This 4x4 system also comes with heavy-duty third-generation Dana 44 front and rear axles that have a 3.73 rear axle ratio. The rock-crawling Rubicon utilizes the Rock-Trac 4x4 system with Tru-Lock locking differentials and heavy-duty third-generation Dana 44 front and rear axles. These axles have a "4LO" ratio of 4:1. The Gladiator can handle water fording up to 30 inches and has an approach angle of 43.6 degrees. The breakover angle for the Gladiator is 20.3 degrees, while the departure angle is 26 degrees.

Can you tell me more about the Mojave model?

Sure can! The Gladiator Mojave is built to handle intense heat and surfaces such as sand, loose dirt, and gravel. The Mojave comes with a 1-inch front lift upgraded Fox 2.5-inch internal bypass shocks with external reservoirs, an Off-Road+ button, and rides on a set of 33-inch all-terrain tires. The exterior of the Gladiator Mojave is instantly recognizable thanks to the Mojave decal that is outfitted with orange and dark gray. The exterior also features an aggressive performance hood with a center scoop that looks tough as can be. Inside the Mojave, you'll find a performance steering wheel and leather-trimmed seats with premium bolsters. The orange details continue to the inside as well, with the Mojave logo being embroidered in orange on the front seats. The seats also feature orange accent stitching.
